ABOUT US

ABOUT US

Starting with just a handful of people, some 50 years on, Beverley Badminton Club has seen its membership grow as we bring the sport to the wider community. In the beginning, a small group of sports enthusiasts started St Catherine’s Badminton Club in a church hall in Leconfield. Seven years later this became Leconfield Badminton Club. From those tentative beginnings, the club slowly expanded and started playing matches in the Dales and other leagues, moving to Beverley over 35 years ago.

As a club, we have enjoyed success on court with Emily Robinson of Hull Bridge having represented England in the Olve Tournament and played in the Finals of the England Schools National Championships. Oliver Stapleton has competed in International U17 tournaments in Lithuania and Cyprus, finishing third in singles, doubles and mixed events in Cyprus.  A number of players have also gone on to play for the County.  Current member Lucy Walker and Madeline Stapleton  play for junior teams whilst Owen Walker and Oliver Stapleton play in Senior Yorkshire teams

A major development has been the creation of our Junior section in 2004 which provides coaching for 8 to 18 year olds.

We currently have two coaches qualified to Badminton England Level 2 status and 3 coaches who have attained Level 1 qualifications and a further coach training for level 1. The Club has worked extremely hard to achieve and maintain Premier Club status within Badminton England. Premier status is only awarded to those clubs which can demonstrate they offer a quality Coaching program delivered within a safe environment by a well managed club.

The club is accredited by ERYC the club has an open access policy.

Beverley has adopted the Badminton England Safeguarding and Protecting Young People Policy and the Badminton England Code of Ethics and Conduct.

Beverley, in partnership with Hull, Hull and East Riding and Avenue Badminton Clubs, have formed the prestigious Hull and East Riding Performance Centre, one of only around 30 in the country, to provide a structured pathway from club badminton right through to international level and as such give our Junior members access to the top Coaches in the area.

Beverley takes the privacy of all those connected with the Club seriously and a copy of our Privacy Notice can be requested by emailing patrickwade3@outlook.com or from any Committee member.

Our coaches have Enhanced DBS clearance and have attended courses on Safeguarding and Protecting Children, First Aid and other relevant matters.
